Lee College has been a national leader in higher education in prison since 1966, when it partnered with the Texas Department of Corrections to become one of the first colleges in the country to offer college courses inside a state prison system.
What began with 176 students in five classes has grown into one of the oldest continuously operating prison education programs in the nation, reflecting nearly six decades of expanding educational opportunity for incarcerated Texans.
Programs offered inside
Lee College combines academic transfer pathways, workforce education, and reentry preparation. Students can earn an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration and Management, along with workforce certificates in high-demand technical fields.
